Artist– Tamari johnson
Tamari Johnson was born and raised in Pittsburg, CA. My mother was part of a dance group as a teen, and my grandfather was the lead of his own band, both performing locally in the Bay Area. My love for music and performance, not coincidentally, began at the age of 4. One BET Awards performance inspired me to one day become a global superstar. Growing up in a family that loved music and sports made things easy. Our family gatherings were my time to shine.
At the age of 11, I started to share that shine by joining a local dance group, where I performed around the Bay Area. At the same time, I spent weekends writing songs. By the time I got to high school, I left the dance studio and signed up for an audio production class, where I learned how to produce and engineer music, and collaborate with others who had the same interests. During this time, I also played basketball and produced music for school projects.
Outside of high school, I auditioned for various projects, including talent agencies, local plays, and more. In my senior year, I joined a new dance team and began training in piano. Meanwhile, I applied the skills I learned in my production class to write songs for my future debut EP. After graduating, I moved to Houston, where I studied business administration for one year while continuing to practice my craft by attending weekly dance classes.
At 19, I booked my first official gig as a dancer. After moving back home, I started working as an actor, doing background work for TV shows on Netflix, CBS, and other networks, and I also published my first books. When COVID hit, all I wanted to do was write and record. In 2022, I found an amazing studio where I met my vocal coach and began recording my EP.
